Biker Teachers A Hit With The Locals

When it comes to getting around large parts of Cameroon there’s no point waiting for taxis or buses because they don’t really exist. Which is why Area 3 was surprised to discover that the motorbike it provided to get teachers across rough terrain to help teach kids in remote villages was also proving a big hit with the locals.

As a taxi.

Or at least a potential taxi.

In a country where public transport is virtually non-existent, the new Galaxy YH 150-5 motorbike is been seen by locals as the perfect way of getting from A-to-B. The popularity has not been lost on Teh Francis, who runs the mobile teacher initiative, and now he’s hoping to get two more bikes to do just that.

With the money these second bikes could make from getting locals around the inhospitable terrain, he said it will allow him to take 25 kids of the streets and get them into school. In a country where many children are orphaned or disowned, it will save many from a life of child labour and worse.

Area 3 never thought getting one motorbike to ferry teachers around could result in the need for a local taxi service. And who can complain when a large part of the funds will help give children with nothing a chance for a better future. All we need now is a sponsor to help us out.
