Charity Workers Praise Rest House

It’s good to give something back which is key reason we helped fund the final stages of the Genesis Rest house in Thailand. It set out to be a sanctuary of sorts for weary charity workers in Thailand, who were in need of some well-deserved R&R.

Since its completion last year we are happy to report that charity workers from many different organizations have taken some time out at Genesis Rest and here’s some of the feedback:

“We loved the Genesis Rest! So quiet and a virtual private beach with many kilometers to walk without seeing another soul. Amazing place. Clear water and wonderful sunsets. Quiet. Restful. My wife and kids loved it all and my pastor friend and his wife from Malaysia came also with their young son  and just loved it too!  A++.   Ning (housekeeper, cook, and all around guide) was absolutely wonderful.   She is a truly delightful person. We were the very first guests in January 2010 of Genesis Rest!!”

Stephen Chandra (Founder/Director Light of the Islands in Indonesia and SEA Director of Reach Global) is overseeing the rebuilding of two towns in Banda Aceh which were wiped out five years ago in the tsunami. They have already constructed more than 1,000 homes and are also helping to kick-start the local agriculture and fishing industries.

“We came in mid February 2010 and were amazed at the clean white beach with nobody here but just the two of us.  Felt like kids and we are empty nesters!  Ning was so very helpful as well.  Thank you Genesis Rest!! We will be back often.”

Peter & Ochie Bangkong (working with the Red Karen group in Mae Hong Son, northern Thailand) Peter and Ochie Peter and Ochie work to help many displaced Burmese people who have fled over the border to Thailand from the Burmese army.

Catalyst is working on an ongoing basis to keep Genesis Rest going but we could always do with more help. Contact us here.
