When the ideal situation of ‘one-PC-per-person’ isn’t possible you have come up with a smarter solution.
The folks at charity group GMMAfrica, which Catalyst Exhibits has been working closely with in educating Cameroon’s children, is doing just that.
Limited funds mean that it’s just not possible to give every child their own computer, even with the motorbike taxis making more money than originally thought.
Teh Francis at the charity explained:
“The major problem we’ve been facing is lack of computer equipment as several students crowd the office and we had to force them to work in shifts or, sometimes, I have to sacrifice my own laptop.
One of our online volunteers has since connected us to Sanaga Technologies who will hopefully introduce us to NComputing ,if we find someone to fund the project. They have already made a proposal and sent it to us so now we just pray that we can find someone to help us out”
NComputing is one of the leading developers of virtualization software and hardware that drastically lowers the cost of computing by letting lots of people use the same PC at the same time. All they need is their own monitor, mouse and keyboard.
It’s the only way that GMMAfrica can see all of their children getting access to the computer education they need. They need help though.
We’re already helping but if you think you can aid this desperately needed education project, then contact our CEO at Catalyst Exhibits, Paul Stahlberg, here. Even a little will go along way.
