Elementary School Needs More Computers

As Catalyst Exhibits’ charity focus, Area 3 has been helping fund the education of children in Cameroon alongside GMM Africa’s Teh Francis.

The motorbike taxis which we helped fund – alongside a notable donation from Bekins Van Lines – have proved to be far more popular and profitable than anyone could have predicted.

According to Teh Francis, there are now 34 children off the streets and in the school system, where computer education is really starting to take off.

He wrote: “I am uploading photos to send to you about the elementary school and how the schools here have re-opened after the summer. Everything has been fine. We have about 34 children now and we’ve paid their tuition and bought most of their school items with the money raised from the Motor-bike taxi business. Thanks too……

Boulder Kids Using Tech To Improve Reading

At Catalyst Exhibits, we’ve been working to help out Debbie Valette’s special reading program in Boulder, Colorado, which is scoring some big successes with kids whose reading skills have dropped way behind their classmates.

By using books that are specially tailored to their age-groups she has succeeded where many reading programmes fail: getting the kids interested in reading.

This week, Debbie got in touch with some shots of her kids working on their reading, using different devices.

Bekins Donation Going A Long Way

gmm bikes in actionThe donation made by our friends at Bekins Van Lines in July has gone a long way in funding badly needed children’s education in Cameroon in just a few short months.

Back in July, Bekins donated $3,500 to help sponsor a child with charity group GMMAfrica, which has being doing great work on the ground providing education to children that would typically have no access.

We’ve had some feedback from Teh Francis at GMMAfrica, thanking Bekins  - again – for their help and letting us know about how it is being used.

“It is now a few days and schools will re-open. With the donation from Bekins Van Lines Company we have been doing great things for the children during these holidays. The motorbike taxis have done their job in helping us raise funds rapidly.  Within a short while we were able to buy two Pentium 4 computers and had a holiday computer training program with the children…..
