kids learning computers

Education should be a right not a privilege but in some parts of the world, like Cameroon, it comes at a cost and a lot of the work in educating children falls to charities like GMM Africa.

Catalyst Exhibits has been working for the last few years in an effort to provide money and, more importantly, the means of making money, that goes towards supporting their excellent programme of bringing education to poor children.

Whether they have been abandoned, orphaned or live in remote villages, GMM Africa, under Rev. Teh Francis, has done a great job giving kids the education they need for a better life.

Teh sent us some recent photos and wrote to us with an update on how things have been going. Read the rest of this entry »

cameroon national day 1

Happy Christmas all!

We’ve had a fulfilling year at Area 3, the charity aspect of Chicago-based event design company Catalyst Exhibits.

But, before we sign off for Christmas, we thought we’d finish up with a last minute update from the good people at GMM Africa, which has been doing excellent work in bringing education to many, deprived children in Cameroon.

Tomorrow, December 22nd, they will be having their own Christmas party – just without the sub-zero conditions we’ll be having. Read the rest of this entry »

As Catalyst Exhibits’ charity focus, Area 3 has been helping fund the education of children in Cameroon alongside GMM Africa’s Teh Francis.

The motorbike taxis which we helped fund – alongside a notable donation from Bekins Van Lines – have proved to be far more popular and profitable than anyone could have predicted.

According to Teh Francis, there are now 34 children off the streets and in the school system, where computer education is really starting to take off.

He wrote: “I am uploading photos to send to you about the elementary school and how the schools here have re-opened after the summer. Everything has been fine. We have about 34 children now and we’ve paid their tuition and bought most of their school items with the money raised from the Motor-bike taxi business. Thanks too……

Motorbike Taxis Fund Computers

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

catalyst bike and passenger 3The motorbike taxis that began life as a way to raise more money to get children off the streets of Cameroon and into education are proving even more successful than originally forecast.

Catalyst Exhibits bought the first motorbike to ferry teachers between schools across the rough terrain and since then another has been added to act purely as a taxi for locals.

We are delighted to hear from Teh Francis at charity group, GMMAFRICA, that the taxi is a roaring success and has helped fund new computers for the schools.

Thanks to the generous donation this summer by our friends at Bekins Van Lines, the taxis are really making a difference for these kids.

Last month, transport  and storage specialist Bekins, stepped up to the plate to help sponsor the education of impoverished children in Cameroon, on the west coast of Africa.

The donation went to GGMAfrica which is doing amazing work to help get kids off the streets and give them a start in life with proper education.

We just heard back from GMMAfrica about how that money helps and also how the motorbikes that Catalyst Exhibits have bought are helping raise vital funds.

“We were delighted to see what Bekin Van Lines did for GMM highlighted on the Area 3 site. They donated $3,500 dollars for the Child Educational Program. When we prepare profiles for some children it takes a long time before they ever come to get a sponsor and sometimes they never get one at all.

National Day In Cameroon: Photos From A Friend

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

cameroon national day 1

We’ve been working with GMMAFRICA in poverty-ridden Cameroon to bring education to children in remote villages.

Thanks to the supply of a new motorbike, the teacher can now be ferried across inhospitable terrain to remote villages, where many children would not otherwise receive basic education.

Since then, the success of the bike with the locals, we’ve been working to get GMM two more bikes to use as taxis for locals in the harsh terrain. The money raised will allow GMM to take 25 orphaned kids off the streets and give them a better start in life. Read the rest of this entry »
